PHILIPPINE Business for Education (PBEd) held the third of its nationwide partnership mixers on June 7, at Courtyard by Marriott Hotel.
The event put the spotlight on STEP UP scholars from West Visayas State University (WVSU).
WVSU is one of PBEd’s largest partner schools, with 156 graduate scholars and a 100% licensure exam passing rate. This is considerably higher than the national average passing rate of 31% from October 2009 to March 2017.
“We are pleased to have partnered with PBEd in this initiative, and are very much looking forward to other ways we can improve teacher quality in the country,” shared Dr. Luis Sorolla, WVSU President.
In their bid for public school employment, the mixer also gave the scholars an opportunity to mingle with local and regional Department of Education officials and other PBEd partner institutions.
“I am excited to be part of a positive change in our system, and help dreamers like me build their little reality,” Glendi Pabelico, a Special Education graduate, shared.
STEP UP is one of PBEd’s programs addressing teacher quality in the country. The improvement of teacher quality is a cornerstone of PBEd’s education reform efforts.
