The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Iloilo chapter officially introduced its latest initiative, Insync, on Monday, August 19. The program is designed to support and nurture the local startup community.
The launch was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding with three key partners: Unified Movement in Western Visayas to Accelerate Startup and Spinoff Development (UMWAD), Mochi, and Kaya Founders.
This collaboration aims to create a dynamic environment for startups, business sectors, and other stakeholders to explore innovative opportunities and drive business growth in Iloilo.
UMWAD, a regional consortium of startups, joins Mochi, a startup specializing in solutions and services, and Kaya Founders, known for its venture capital contributions, offering funding and angel investing to promising startups.
“Insync aims to assist our startup community in growing and to attract more entrepreneurs to establish their own startups,” said Francis Gerona, head of PCCI Iloilo’s business innovation and startup sector.
Gerona emphasized that Insync will focus on helping startups prepare for the e-commerce platform. “We are seeking startups that are ready to go online. If they are prepared, our partners and PCCI will assist in their growth and help them reach a level where their products or services are e-commerce ready,” he explained.
Jahleel-an Burao, business operations manager at Kaya Founders, added that Insync will offer mentorship, teaching startups how to manage a business and providing early market access. “Startups can receive small capital to experiment, develop their product, or apply for patents. We need to collaborate closely to align with the current ecosystem,” she said.
PCCI President Fulbert Woo expressed optimism about future programs under Insync, focusing on the long-term growth of local businesses.
The signing event was attended by Dr. Carmelo C. Ambut of UMWAD, Dr. Gabriel M. Salistre, Jr. of Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U), and Yroen Guaya Melgar of Mochi Solutions.
The launch of Insync is part of the chapter’s Iloilo Business Week celebration, which coincides with the city’s Charter Day festivities.
