Performance of Schools in September 2023 LEPT

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) released the results of September 2023 Licensure Examinations for Professional Teachers (LEPT) given in Bangkok, Thailand and in 40 testing centers all over the Philippines. Twenty-three thousand seven hundred eighty two (23,782) out of 50,593 or 47.01% passed in the LEPT – Elementary.

Around 6 out 10 examinees are repeaters. The passing average of first takers was 74.9%, and that of repeaters was 25%. Hence, the repeaters passing average pulled down the overall passing performance of this September 2023 LEPT – Elementary.

The Western Visayas Region performed high in this examination with passing percentage higher than that of the national average. Fifty- two (52) out of 67 higher education institutions (HEIs) in the Region or 78% are high performing or with passing average higher than that in the national level. Most of the high performing HEIs are public schools.

High performing HEIs in the Region, with 50 and above examinees and at least 80% passing percentage are Bacolod City College (92.19%), University of Iloilo (90.14%) and PNU – Visayas (83.33%). Bacolod City College is one of the eleven (11) local colleges in the Region. One thousand one hundred eighty-five (1,185) out of 1,774 examinees in the Region, or 66.8%, passed in the said examination. Likewise, the repeaters passing average pulled down the overall passing performance of this September 2023 LEPT – Elementary in the Region.

Six (6) schools in Western Visayas have board passers included in the list of successful examinees who garnered the 10 highest places in the national level: West Visayas State University – Himamaylan Campus (one Rank #7 and one Rank #9); West Visayas State University – Main  (one Rank #9 and two Rank #10); Carlos Hilado Memorial State University – Main (one Rank #10); Iloilo State University of Fisheries, Science and Technology – Dumangas Campus (one Rank #8); University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos (one Rank #6) and Central Philippines State University – San Carlos Campus (one Rank #10).

On the other hand, fifty-three thousand nine hundred ninety-five (53,995) out of 95,961 or 56.27% passed in the LEPT – Secondary. Fifty-two thousand eight hundred twenty-two (52,822) of these are first takers, while 43,139 are repeaters. Four (4) out 10 examinees were repeaters. The passing average of first takers was 75.69%, and that of repeaters was 32%. University of Saint La Salle ranked number 7 (92.39% passing) and PNU-Visayas ranked number 9 (91.82% passing) in the national level for schools with 50 or more examinees and with at least 85% passing percentage. University of Saint La Salle is CHED Autonomous school and Center of Development (COD) in Teacher Education in Western Visayas.

Likewise, the Western Visayas Region performed high in LEPT – Secondary, or with passing percentage higher than that of the national average. Forty-four (44) out of 92 schools in the Region or 48% are high performing or with passing average higher than that in the national level. High performing schools in the Region, with 50 and above examinees and at least 80% passing percentage are University of Saint La Salle, PNU- Visayas, Bacolod City College (87.73%), West Visayas State University-Himamaylan Campus (84.62%), University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos (86.62%), University of Iloilo (82.69%), West Visayas State University – Main (82.42%), and Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (80.24%).

Two (2) schools in Western Visayas have board passers included in the list of successful examinees who garnered the 10 highest places in the national level: West Visayas State University (one Rank #4 and one Rank #10); and Bago City College (one Rank #10).

The West Visayas State University is the CHED Center of Excellence in Teacher Education in Region VI.
