The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras continues its Barangay and House-to-House registration drive for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) in the third quarter of 2024, successfully registering 43.14% of its target population.
A total of 4,740 residents were registered across the province by the end of September 2024.
Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare emphasized the importance of reaching remote communities through on-site registrations.
“Since July, we have worked closely with barangay officials and community leaders to ensure that every eligible resident, particularly those in far-flung areas, has the opportunity to register for PhilSys,” Losare said.
As of September 24, 2024, PSA-Guimaras had recorded 2,045 registrations, reflecting the team’s dedication to community engagement since the beginning of the quarter.
The registration drive includes young children, with 1,056 registrants (or 51.63%) being between the ages of 1 to 4, supporting the national effort to register all age groups.
“This initiative is crucial in ensuring that even the youngest members of the population have their PhilSys IDs, which will serve as official proof of identity for accessing various government services,” Losare explained.
PSA-Guimaras employs multiple strategies to ensure convenient registration, including Barangay and House-to-House campaigns, PhilSys on wheels, school-based registrations, plaza-type setups, and sitio or purok outreach programs.
“These initiatives aim to ensure that registration is convenient and accessible, regardless of location or circumstances,” Losare added.
The registration campaign will continue until the target population is fully enrolled, in line with the government’s commitment to inclusivity. PhilSys aims to create a streamlined identification system, enhancing access to services and promoting social and financial inclusion.
“For those who have yet to register, the PSA encourages residents to take advantage of the ongoing registration drives in their barangays or through house-to-house visits,” Losare urged.
Residents can coordinate with local barangay officials or contact the PSA-Guimaras office for information on registration schedules and locations.
