The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) welcomes two more teams to their list of participating clubs.
After their official induction as the country’s first-ever professional volleyball league, teams were eager to join the PVL after the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) and the government only allowed pro leagues to resume operations amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Two teams which recently joined the Philippine Superliga (PSL) decided to transfer to the PVL and turn pro.
The PLDT and Cignal squads will start their professional journey in volleyball.
PVL president Ricky Palou disclosed the development: “We’ve got PLDT. They confirmed that they are joining the PVL and likewise the Cignal team.”
Both under the Manny V. Pangilinan group of sports clubs, PLDT and Cignal are respected in the PSL and are always competitive against the other teams.
The addition of both teams will provide more challenge to the defending champion Creamline Cool Smashers led by Alyssa Valdez.
“By next week, everything will be formally announced. Cignal and PLDT have basically confirmed that they are entering the PVL,” Palou added.
