Police Seize PHP6.3M ‘Shabu,’ Arrest 20 Suspects

The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) confiscated PHP6.3 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested 20 individuals during a two-day anti-drug operation from November 27 to 29.

Authorities seized approximately 936 grams of illegal drugs, with Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) accounting for the largest haul at PHP5.4 million.

The Iloilo Police Provincial Office followed with PHP408,000 worth of confiscations.

The operation targeted both high-value individuals and street-level suspects. Five of the arrested individuals were classified as high-value, while 15 were street-level personalities.

Iloilo City Police Office logged the most arrests, with 12 suspects apprehended.

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office arrested four, Bacolod City Police Office detained two, and Aklan and Iloilo Police Provincial Offices each made one arrest.

Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky, director of PRO-6, commended the efforts of law enforcement and expressed gratitude to community members and other agencies for their support in combating illegal drugs.

“With the support extended by our partners, we were able to make these accomplishments,” Wanky said. “I urge everyone that in our fight against illegal drugs, we need your vigilance. Those monitored engaging in the illegal activity can be reported to the police or to the Anti-Drug Abuse Councils at any level.”

He stressed the importance of collective action to rid communities of the dangers posed by illegal drugs.

The arrested individuals are now in police custody and face charges under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
