ROXAS CITY, Capiz — The Panay Municipal Police Station in Capiz is under strict quarantine after an officer tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Police Lieutenant Francisco Umiten Jr., officer-in-charge (OIC) of Panay MPS, said the quarantine started on April 9 as 13 of them were direct contacts of the infected officer.

All of them are restricted to the town’s Quarantine Facility at Poblacion Ilawod, Panay.

Meanwhile, 17 other police officers who had general contact with the index case are quarantined at the police station.

Officers assigned to the town’s Bantay Dagat team who had no close contact with the case were exempted from the quarantine.

Umiten said that police officers from the First Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company augmented the Panay police station to help maintain peace and order in the town.

He added that the operations of the police station might be limited because of the incident.
