Police investigators are considering “inside job” as a possible motive behind the reported break-in at the house of Mayor Jett Rojas of Ajuy, Iloilo.

Police Captain Roy Castro, Ajuy police chief, said they already have persons of interest behind the alleged robbery.

But Castro declined to name them pending further investigation.

He claimed there are four to five suspects.

There were three possible cohorts who apparently hogtied the house caretaker, Castro said.

There were earlier reports that armed men allegedly broke into the Rojas’ family abode evening of Feb. 24, 2020.

But Rojas denied it.

Castro, on the other hand, claimed that a robbery incident was reported to them around 4:00 a.m. of Feb. 25.

When the supposed incident happened, Rojas was not home.

The house occupants include his 88-year old father, his caregiver, the caregiver’s boyfriend, and a househelp.

The “intruders” allegedly conspired in taking care of the vault found on Rojas’ room.

They then brought it outside and destroyed it.

But the suspects might have been dismayed after they only saw loose bills and a ring valued at P20,000.

“Inventory is still going on if there are other missing items,” he said.

There were reports, though, that one of the missing items was a long firearm.

Meanwhile, Rojas said he trusts that police could solve the incident.
