PopCom-6 cites LGUs on population program

THE Commission on Population and Development (CPD)-6 recognized various local government units (LGUs)in Western Visayas for their outstanding performance in population and development work in 2018.

Fourteen LGUs were awarded for excellence in Responsible Parenthood-Family Planning (RP-FP) Couples Reached – Sagay City, Victorias City, La Carlota City, Himamaylan City, Escalante City, Cadiz City, Bago City all in Negros Occidental, and Passi City in Iloilo; and the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental.

For excellence in New Family Planning (FP) Acceptors Generated, the following LGUs were recognized: Victorias City, Sipalay City, Sagay City, La Carlota City, Himamaylan City, Escalante City, Cadiz City, Bago City, and Passi City in Iloilo; Iloilo City, and the provinces of Aklan, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental.

Special citations were also given to the province of Negros Occidental for Gender and Development; Iloilo province, Antique, and Roxas City for Population Development; and Iloilo City for RPRH Law.

The city of Bacolod and the province of Capiz were recognized for the most number of LGU-funded U4U Teen Trail conducted.

Victorias City in Negros Occidental was cited for its completion of Peer Education Ladderized Program (Level I, II, and III).

Silay City ranked first among LGUs with most number of Adolescent Health Development (AHD) classes conducted, followed by Sagay City, and Iloilo province ranked third.

In terms of percentage of RP-FP couples reached, Silay City emerged first place, with San Carlos City and Kabankalan City, as second and third, respectively.

Silay City also managed to obtain the highest percentage of New FP acceptors generated, followed by Kabankalan City and San Carlos City ranked third. (PIA-Iloilo)
