BACOLOD CITY – A young woman who was pregnant and was about to get married was killed while three others, including her live-in partner, were injured in a road accident at Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City, Negros Occidental last Friday.

The fatality was identified by the police as Aizel Legaspi, 21, a native of Sagay City but temporarily resided at Barangay Guinhalaran.

Wounded were Legaspi’s partner Mark Olvido, 23, a native of Sagay City, who is also temporarily residing in Barangay Guinhalaran; John Carl Saldo, 21, and his companion Enrique Trujuillo, 20, both residents of Barangay 5.

Police Corporal Julen Jay Apitong, traffic investigator of Silay City Police Station, said the accident happened while the couple was executing a left turn on their way home.

Legaspi was driving the motorcycle when she allegedly overlapped the innermost lane, Apitong said.

An approaching motorcycle driven by Saldo reportedly collided with the couple’s motorcycle, causing all four of them to be thrown off their bikes, Apitong added.

Legaspi succumbed to head injuries at a hospital, while the three wounded persons are confined to another hospital here.

Apitong said the couple was not wearing helmets when the accident happened.

Also, Saldo failed to avoid the couple’s motorcycle as he was also reportedly speeding on their way home, the traffic investigator said.

Apitong said they are still investigating who was at fault in the accident.
