PRO-6 claims ‘mission accomplished’ in 2020

Amid the pandemic, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) declared it has overcome the challenges under the new normal.

The PNP unit said it delivered its mission in normal police operations while performing other functions.

Describing 2020 to be a peculiar year, PRO-6 said that it is also a time where modern-day heroes were recognized such as medical frontliners and even those in the uniformed service.

“It is in this year that the heroic deeds of our police personnel who were juggling their usual law enforcement functions and other police operations, maintenance of peace and order and security and the implementation of the health protocols and contact tracing efforts altogether were highlighted,” PRO-6 said in a statement.

It added that PRO-6 operational and administrative accomplishments manifested the dedication to duty of its men and women.

From January to December 2020, PRO-6 conducted 1,317 anti-illegal drug operations that led to the arrest of 1,842 drug personalities.

These operations also resulted in the confiscation of 20,154 grams of shabu and marijuana with standard drug value of P135 million.

​On the campaign against loose firearms, 817 operations were conducted with 528 persons arrested and 57 cases filed in court.

3,541 firearms were either confiscated, recovered, or deposited/surrendered. 2,541 guns were deposited or surrendered under the soft-hand approach while 502 were confiscated through the iron-hand approach under Tokhang Kontra Armas Luthang (TKAL).

Meanwhile, police arrested 416 most wanted persons and 3,214 other wanted persons.

PRO-6 units also mounted 1,296 anti-illegal gambling operations that led to the arrest of 4,926 persons and the confiscation of over P1 million in cash bets.

They also conducted 730 anti-illegal fishing operations and arrested 2,508 persons.

Police also went hard on illegal logging as it launched 202 operations and apprehended 258 persons.

But only 34 cases were filed in court while 131 thousand board feet of assorted lumber/wood valued at more than P2 million were recovered.

On the campaign against carnapping and motornapping, 17 persons were arrested while two motor vehicles and 8 motorcycles were recovered.

On PRO6’s anti-insurgency efforts, 49 rebels have surrendered, 50 were arrested, and 5 were neutralized.
