The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 has acquired 5,000 drug testing kits for its personnel use.
Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor, Western Visayas police chief, said this is part of the command initiative relative to PNP chief General Benjamin Acorda’s 5-focus agenda.
The drug test kits will be exclusively used by PRO-6 organic personnel.
As he repeatedly said, Villaflor said that it’s his desire to make all PRO-6 personnel free from any involvement in illegal drugs.
“We want to make PRO-6 a drug-free workplace. This is a primordial concern for us since we enforce anti-illegal drug laws,” he said.
The procurement was made possible through the Philippine Anti-Drug Strategy (PADS) Fund. A ceremonial turnover will take place on Monday morning, June 19, at the PRO-6 Administration Building.
“This is my way of checking my personnel’s integrity and commitment to their sworn duty. As law enforcers, they must have moral ascendancy as they do their best in our war against illegal drugs,” Villaflor said.
It was gathered that hundreds of police personnel all over the region have undergone drug tests since Villaflor assumed post in less than a month.
So far, no personnel was found positive for illegal drug use.
