PSA Guimaras upholds 2022 CBMS Trainings

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office supported and participated in various training for the upcoming 2022 Community Based Monitoring System (CBMS) rollout in July.

Preparatory activities were implemented, like the trainer’s training, and the processes of collecting data for the Brgy. Profile Questionnaire (BPQ).

The trainer’s training held at Days Hotel, Iloilo City on June 17-24, 2022, extensively discussed the concepts and definition of terms, and processes in the conduct of the CBMS enumeration.

The training was participated in by the Chief Statistical Specialist, CBMS Focal Person, and the Supervising Specialist of the six (6) provinces of Region VI,

After the 8-day training, they will serve as trainers/resource persons for the hired Head CBMS Area Supervisors, CBMS Area Supervisors, representative(s) from the DILG, and PSA staff who will join the workforce in conducting training for the hired enumerators.

On June 1-2, 2022 the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the San Lorenzo Municipality conducted a training on the Barangay Profile Questionnaire (BPQ) for all the Barangay Officials of San Lorenzo municipality.

The second level training (2LT) on the accomplishment of the CBMS Barangay Profile Questionnaire (BPQ) and Municipal LGU data sheet were participated by the Punong barangay (PB), secretary, and other authorized barangay personnel, and representatives from the municipal LGU.

The first day of the training focused on the concepts and definitions of the different parts of the CBMS BPQ.

“On the second day, Ma. Goretti M. Novilla, Supervising Statistical Specialist and CBMS Regional Focal supervised the hands-on exercise on the navigation of the Computer-Assisted Web Interview (CAWI) application,” Chief Statistical Specialist Nelida Losare said.

The CBMS Form 4 or the Barangay Profile Questionnaire will collect data on barangay characteristics: the types of facilities and establishments existing in the barangay.

“The BPQ will use CAWI where the target respondents are the Punong Barangays and other authorized barangay personnel knowledgeable in navigating CAWI, and who can provide accurate information about the barangay LGU,” Losare explained.

The BPQ aims to gather data on the following: physical characteristics of the barangay; service institutions and infrastructure; Information and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure and resources in the barangay; significant events in the barangay; Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) practices, plans, and equipment; and general information about the barangay personnel.
