PSC Guimaras plants 250 fruit and non-fruit seedlings in IPs’ zone

PSC Guimaras members plant 250 fruit and non-fruit seedlings in the area of Indigenous Peoples at Sito Kati-Kati, Brgy. San Miguel, Jordan as part of the activities for the month-long celebration of the 33rd National Statistics Month (NSM) in the province.

A total of 250 fruit and non-fruit seedlings were planted in the area of Indigenous Peoples in Sito Kati-Kati, Brgy. San Miguel, Jordan, as part of the activities for the month-long celebration of the 33rd National Statistics Month (NSM) in Guimaras province.

The tree planting program led by the Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC) Guimaras on October 21, 2022 was participated by the provincial offices of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Guimaras Environment and Natural Resources (GENRO), Guimaras Police Provincial Office (GPPO), Guimaras State University- Baterna Campus, Municipal Planning and Development Office of Nueva Valencia, Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Provincial Engineering’s Office (PEO),  Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office Guimaras (PENRO-Guimaras), Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Provincial Planning and Development Office, Provincial Tourism Office (PTO), and Buenavista Hospital.

“The 250 seedlings were a mixed of magtalisay, coffeebatuan, tipolo, langka, cacao, and kubi, provided by the PENRO,” said Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare

Losare also cited that every year, the PSC organizes environmental activities such as: tree planting to raise awareness about how saving the environment can improve the quality of life and how it combats environmental issues such as global warming, air pollution, soil erosion, and flooding.

“Moreover, this activity aims to promote camaraderie and teamwork among PSC members and inspire social awareness, and provide an opportunity to strengthen the bond among PSC- Guimaras in the context of social awareness and accountability,” Losare said.

“It is also an environmental concern and social responsibility of every individual to help reduce the effects of climate change, Losare added.

Losare also appreciated the strong support of the PSC member agencies and IPs in Kati-Kati through the leadership of Chieftain Crispin Valencia, who also participated in the plating of 250 seedlings.   

“When we plant trees, we plant hope for our children and the generations to come. We are hopeful that the IPs community in Kati-Kati will do their part to take care of the planted seedlings to ensure a 100% survival rate,” Losare said.
