Ranking cop sacked for alleged harassment

Western Visayas police chief Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo immediately approved the relief of a high-ranking official who was accused of harassing a female subordinate.

Dongbo confirmed that he already ordered the PNP Regional Personnel and Human Resource Doctrine Division to issue the relief order of Lieutenant Colonel Antonio Dizon, Guimaras Police Provincial Office (GPPO) deputy provincial director for administration.

Dizon might be assigned to the PNP Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (RPHAU) while he is under probe.

Daily Guardian is still trying to get Dizon’s comment.

“The relief is to give way to the conduct of an important investigation against him. By relieving him from post, he could not influence the probe,” Dongbo said.

The region’s top cop did not waste time in approving the request of Colonel Pablito Asmod, GPPO chief, to relieve Dizon from post.

“We don’t tolerate this kind of act. That’s why, we are taking immediate action to correct it,” he said.

While there is no problem with romantic involvement between police personnel, Dongbo said they must be “qualified” to engage in such.

“Meaning, dapat both of them ay walang pananagutan,” he added.

Dizon’s quandary stemmed after a 31-year-old police corporal filed a complaint against him before the National Police Commission 6 (NAPOLCOM-6).

The policewoman, who is assigned to the GPPO intelligence branch, claimed that Dizon “romantically” pursued her.

Initially, he gave flowers to the lady officers, but the latter apparently did not give him a favorable response.

Lately, the woman allegedly made her decision to turn down Dizon’s offer. That’s when the ranking police official allegedly “punished” her for no apparent reason.

During formation, she was ordered to do a knee-bender as a “punishment.”

The lady police officer decided to file the complaint claiming that she could no longer take the pressure.

It allegedly came to a point when Dizon’s wife confronted her over the phone.

Atty. Joseph Celis, NAPOLCOM-6 regional director, even surmised that there could be trust issues between Dizon and his wife.

The policewoman was also surprised after Dizon’s wife got hold of her mobile number.

Meanwhile, Asmod said he already talked to the two personnel and dubbed their face-off as “normal.”

It was gathered that the 53-year-old Dizon has been with the Guimaras PPO for about two years already.

Prior to this, Dizon, who is reportedly from Metro Manila, was assigned at the Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO).
