An ex-convict was arrested again during a police anti-illegal drug operation on the morning of May 7 in Jaro, Iloilo City.

Alias Winzon, of Barangay Baldoza, La Paz, was collared in a buy-bust operation at his live-in partner’s house in Zone 4, Barangay Lanit, Jaro.

Members of the Iloilo City Police Office–City Drug Enforcement Unit (ICPO-CDEU), in coordination with the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) 6 and Iloilo City Police Station 3, arrested the suspect after he sold a sachet of suspected shabu for PHP7,000.

Authorities recovered seven more sachets and a knot-tied plastic pack of suspected shabu.

Captain Ryan Christ Inot, ICPO-CDEU team leader, said the seized drugs weighed around 170 grams with an estimated street value of PHP1,156,000.

Inot said it was already Winzon’s third arrest for drug-related offenses.

He was first arrested in 2016 and released in 2021 after serving his sentence.

Later that same year, he was arrested again but released in 2023 after availing of a plea bargaining agreement.

Authorities began monitoring him again several months ago after receiving reports that he had returned to the illegal drug trade.

With his latest arrest, Inot said the suspect will be joining his two sons and a brother, who are also currently in jail.
