Retired city govt. worker nabbed in drug bust

Salvino Albino was arrested for alleged drug peddling and possession of P360,400 worth of suspected shabu.

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A retired city government employee was arrested Thursday evening, June 23, in a drug buy-bust operation at Sitio Ilaya, Barangay Tanque here.

Police Senior Master Sergeant Ramil Arcangeles, Roxas City PNP spokesperson, identified the suspect as Jaime Aguirre, 66, of said barangay.

Recovered from Aguirre were 7 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 7 grams with estimated street value of P85,000; drug paraphernalia and P1,000 marked money.

According to the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDET), Aguirre is an alleged newly identified drug personality.

Police records also showed that Aguirre had just retired from government service as Administrative Aid 6 assigned to the City Environment Natural Resources Office (CENRO) two years ago.

He is presently detained at the Roxas City PNP while charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being readied against him.

Meanwhile, P360,400 worth of suspected shabu was recovered in another drug buy-bust operation at Pueblo De Panay, Barangay Lawaan here.

Police identified the suspect as Salvino Albino, 31, of Barangay Punta Tabuc here.

Recovered from the suspect were 14 sachets of suspected shabu, cellphone and P7,500 marked money.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Francisco Paguia, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) chief, said some 53 grams of suspected illegal drugs were recovered from Albino.

Paguia said that Albino was arrested and jailed last September 16, 2016 and was released last month.

The operation was jointly conducted by PDEU and PDEA-Capiz.

Charges for violation of RA 9165 are being readied against Albino.
