Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark just boosted her chances of clinching this season’s WNBA Rookie of the Year award after breaking another record on July 18, 2024.

Despite a 101-93 loss to the Dallas Wings, Clark was able to put up a stellar performance after finishing the game with 19 assists, setting the new WNBA single-game assist record.

Clark anchored the Indiana offense and ran their plays to perfection as she set her teammates in another close encounter against a Dallas team that was eager to snap their three-game losing streak.

With her 19-assist tally, Clark surpassed Courtney Vandersloot’s four-year record after she dished out 18 dimes for the Chicago Sky last 2020 WNBA season.

Clark also became the newest record-holder for the single-game assist leader as a rookie, transcending Tina Penicheiro’s 16 assists during the 1998 season.

On July 7, 2024, Clark first entered the WNBA history book after becoming the first-ever rookie in the league to tally a triple-double.

After the hardly-fought battle against the New York Liberty, Clark registered 19 points, 13 assists, 12 rebounds, and two steals.

Indiana had the chance to take over the game after they overcame an eight-point deficit in the first half, thanks to Clark’s all-around performance.

However, in the crucial fourth quarter, Natasha Howard stepped up when Dallas needed her the most and led her team to a much-needed victory.

Aside from her 19 assists, Clark also put up 24 points built from an efficient 10/19 shooting from the field and six rebounds.

It was Aliyah Boston who top-scored for Fever with 28 markers and filled the stat sheets with eight rebounds, four blocks, and three assists.
