Rotary Governor Visits Rotary Club of Bacolod

The Rotary Club of Bacolod welcomed Rotary International District 3850 Governor Richard Centino during a special gathering on Sept. 29, 2024, at O’ Hotel. The event, held in Boardroom 1 and 2, marked a significant moment in the club’s journey of humanitarian service and leadership.

The program began with a prayer for the eternal repose of Mrs. Concepcion Ybanez y Torres, the mother-in-law of Governor Centino, who had recently passed away.

A distinguished group attended the Governor’s visit, including Past District Governor Edgar Sy, Club President Marjorie Dino, the Club’s officers, Board of Directors, members, and guests.

President Dino provided an update on the club’s membership, accomplishments, upcoming projects, and the rollout of an approved global grant. The discussion focused on service projects, membership growth, and the club’s plans to continue making a positive impact on the communities it serves. She shared an inspiring quote from Lisa Haisha: “Great leaders don’t set out to be a leader, they set out to make a difference. It’s never about the role – always about the goal.”

The visit also included the induction of three new members, each from diverse backgrounds, who expressed a desire to give back to the community:

  1. Ms. Hana Isabela Hautea – Human Resource Management
  2. Ms. Marilyn Dormido – School Administration/Management
  3. Mr. Michael Gaerlan – Salon Business/Driving School

Past President Jesus Jonathan Avelino led the charging of the new members, while Governor Centino administered the induction ceremony.

Rotarian Sam Solon introduced the visiting guests and Rotarians, which included:

  1. Assistant Governor for Zone 6 – Julie Ann Carbon
  2. Ms. Naty Ong Sy
  3. Ms. Lovely Sevilla
  4. Dra. Bamby Avelino
  5. Mr. Kent of the District Governor’s entourage

The event concluded with Governor Centino providing a district update and an inspirational message. Assistant Governor Carbon also delivered brief remarks, followed by the presentation of a token of appreciation to Governor Centino.

The Rotary Club of Bacolod continues to thrive, driven by the commitment of its members to community service and its vision for the future. The club’s ongoing growth and dedication ensure that it remains a force for good in the community.

A special thanks to the Club officers and members for their dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment, which strengthen the Rotary Club of Bacolod!
