Roxas City remains under GCQ, mayor thanks local and national task forces

Roxas City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas thanked the task forces handling the response to the COVID-19 pandemic for retaining the city under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ).

Dadivas particularly thanked the National and Regional Interagency Task Forces for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases for heeding their appeal to remain in GCQ.

“Ako ang nagapasalamat sa National Inter-Agency Task Force kag sa Regional IATF sa paghatag sang positibo nga sabat sa pag hinyo naton nga igapabilin sa General Community Quarantine (GCQ) ang Roxas City, Capiz,” he said.

Dadivas said residents can continue with their daily activities provided they observe some restrictions such as wearing of face masks and face shields and observance of safe distancing.

The mayor urged residents to cooperate “so we can weather this pandemic together.”

In their appeal on Wedneday, Dadivas said they would rather stay under GCQ from July 16-31, 2021 saying the Modified Enhanced CQ policies implemented from June 1-30 worked.

“I am appealing the recent directive of the National IATF. I will request retention of the GCQ status of Roxas City. The June 1 to 30 MECQ is sufficiently working. Active cases are decreasing; now, we only have 161 active cases from more than 600 last month. We have to revive the business sector. Kinahanglan na makatrabaho sang aton kasimanwa agud mabuhi nila ang ila pamilya (Our residents need to work so their families can survive),” he said.
