An augmentation force was sent to San Enrique Police Station in Iloilo province after several officers tested positive for COVID-19.

Colonel Gilbert Gorero, Iloilo police chief, said members of the 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company based at Barangay Zerrudo, Sara, are already stationed to the police station while those who tested negative for the virus are handling administrative works.

The string of positive cases started off with the deputy chief of San Enrique Police Station.

Gorero said that he told the deputy chief to undergo a transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) after his wife tested positive.

The result came out Friday indicating that he also contracted the virus.

“That’s why, I ordered that all personnel and those who work at the police station to undergo swab test,” Gorero said.

The result came out on Monday and seven policemen, one non-uniformed personnel (NUP), and two “strikers” who prepare meals at the station tested positive.

They were already isolated to the town’s quarantine facility.

Last month, Miag-ao Police Station was placed on quarantine after 10 police officers tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Prior to that, San Joaquin and Lemery municipal police stations were also placed on quarantine.
