The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas chairman, Senator Sonny Angara, donated plasma to help cure patients tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
After announcing that he contracted the virus last March 26, Angara proudly confirmed that he already recovered and is no longer positive.
Angara was the third senator to be tested positive for the virus next to Sen. Migz Zubiri and Sen. Koko Pimentel.
“Yesterday was a chance to give back to the medical community that nursed me back to health. Survivors’ plasma can help cure COVID-19 patients,” Angara tweeted.
Previously, the Philippine General Hospital said that the plasma of COVID-19 survivors could help increase recovery chances among those who tested positive.
With different health sectors agreeing to PGH’s statement, they then started to help appeal to those COVID-19 survivors for convalescent plasma therapy.
Sen. Zubiri, the chairman of the Philippine Eskrima Kali Arnis Foundation, who also recovered from COVID-19, said that he is willing to donate to help patients.
“I hope DOH, the COVID-19 Task Force, and DILG can help share databases to ask COVID-19 patients to share their plasma. It’s needed by patients now,” Angara added.
