BACOLOD City – A man killed his own father and brother inside their house at Barangay Kapitan Ramon, Silay City, Negros Occidental early Sunday morning.

Killed were Ronilo Oroceo Sr., 69; and Sonny Boy Oroceo, 33.

Police Major Rollie Pondevilla, city police chief, said suspect Ronilo Oroceo Jr., 29, allegedly hacked his father Ronilo Sr. and elder brother Sonny Boy with a bladed weapon locally known as “lantip” which is used to cut sugarcane.

Ronilo Jr. allegedly hacked his father first after the victim had his shower.

His elder brother tried to pacify him but he was also hacked.

Both victims died on the spot due to hack wounds on their throat.

Pondevilla said the mother was not at home when the incident happened.

Pondevilla said the suspect killed his father and brother for still unknown reasons.

He surrendered to a member of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (Cafgu) few hours after the incident.

Pondevilla said the suspect admitted the crime to the police, and even told them that he dropped the bladed weapon in a water well after the incident.

The city police chief said the suspect might be suffering from nervous breakdown based on the statement of his mother.

The suspect’s mother told the police that her son was half naked when he recently went home after working in Bacolod City as a security guard, Pondevilla said.

The family didn’t know what happened to him. He was not talking since he came home, Pondevilla said.

Pondevilla said the suspect’s mother is willing to file parricide charges.

The suspect has been isolated from other detainees at the police station for security reasons.

Pondevilla said they are checking if the suspect used illegal drugs previously that might have triggered the crime.
