The construction of the Office of the President-Presidential Management Staff (OP-PMS) Integrated Operations and Service Continuity System (IOSCS) Sub-Central Office (CSO)-Western Visayas building is substantially completed.

Regional Director Tiburcio DL Canlas of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office 6 said the ₱90-million, 3-storey structure built inside Regional Equipment Service (RES) compound of DPWH Regional Office 6 is expected to be fully completed and ready for occupancy by the end of the third quarter of 2022.

With smart and new normal-ready features, this building will house the PMS CSO-Western Visayas.

A soft inauguration of the building was held recently, attended by no less than Undersecretary Ferdinand B. Cui, Jr., Acting Head of the Presidential Management Staff along with OP-PMS Mancom and key staff; Assistant Secretary Wilfredo Mallari, DPWH Assistant Secretary for Regional Operations in NCR, Region IV-B and the Visayas; DPWH-6 Regional Director Tiburcio DL Canlas, Assistant Regional Director Jose Al V. Fruto and key officials of the Regional Office.

In his message, Asec. Mallari said the structure is a product of collaborative effort and a manifestation of strong partnership between DPWH and PMS.

“This building will provide convenience and good working environment to our PMS-Western Visayas personnel, thereby ensuring public service and strengthening inter-agency collaboration in the region,” he added.

“With this new building, OP-PMS will be more responsive and resilient to implement programs and other assignments directed by the President amidst the new normal. This will also pave way for community partnership and stakeholders support,” he added.

Engr. Canlas said that DPWH has remained committed in constructing the building that will serve as venue for discussion of important programs, projects and policies of the Office of the President.

“Rest assured that DPWH will remain to be a steadfast partner of OP-PMS and we will continue to work hand-in-hand in delivering quality services for the people,” Director Tiburcio DL Canlas said.

Sub-Central Offices (SCOs) are established in strategic resilient sites across the country including Iloilo City.

These SCOs are intended to mirror the functions of the PMS Central Office and service as Governance Continuity centers in the event of major disruption in Metro Manila.

This initiative of transforming OP-PMS into a 21st Century organization, aims at enhancing the PMS responsiveness and resiliency in the service of the Filipino people.
