BACOLOD City – Surveillance swab testing for coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 among bedridden residents in San Carlos City will be conducted by the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

San Carlos City Sangguniang Panlungsod Member and EOC Commander Dr. Wilmar Yap came up with the idea during the EOC meeting last Dec. 7, 2020.

The move came to fore amid the increasing number of COVID-19 deaths wherein most of the fatalities were bedridden individuals who have not been outside of their respective homes for a very long time.

“This is also one way of knowing if members of their households are COVID-19 carriers so we can provide them health assistance, capture asymptomatic individuals and prevent further the spread of the virus,” Yap said.

He ordered Punong Barangays to provide the EOC the list of all bedridden individuals in their respective areas so that the testing will be made soon after the necessary preparations will be completed.

He also urged them to strictly monitor those under home quarantine and apprehend violators of the minimum health protocol including the wearing of face mask, face shield and social distancing.
