Filipina Josephine Medina bagged a silver medal in Women’s Singles Class 8 of the 2019 Para Table Tennis Japan Open at Tokyo, Japan.
Medina was diagnosed with poliomyelitis that affected the length of her legs but that did not discourage her to continue honing her craft and continue her passion.
Medina’s name is widely known in the para table tennis scene, as she also held the silver medal in last year’s Asian Para Games in Jakarta, Indonesia.
She first played internationally way back 2003, Medina garnered the most gold medals among the competitors for the PH squad winning five gold medals.
During 2018, Medina used her own money for her expenses in a series of qualifying tournaments to finally get an entry for the World Para Table Tennis Championships.
