Teen hangs self in motel

A TEENAGE girl died of suicide late afternoon of Oct. 8 inside a motel in Molo, Iloilo City.

Police Major Engilbert Banquillo, Molo police chief, confirmed that the victim is 18 years old and a Grade 11 student from Pavia, Iloilo.

The victim reportedly checked in the motel around 4:29 p.m. of Tuesday.

A taxi driver claimed the girl flagged him down at Molo public plaza and told him to head to Dragon Lodge Drive-In Hotel.

Alone, she ordered chopsuey at around 5:10 p.m.

The room of claimed he delivered her order at 5:30 p.m. He then saw her body hanging from the stairs.

Motel personnel rushed the victim to Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital but she did not pull through.

“Maybe, it was on purpose the she ordered for food for her body to be discovered immediately,” Banquillo said.

The girl was not immediately identified.

She was initially described to be in her 20s and had tattoo on her neck, right hand, and right leg; blonde shoulder-length hair; and was wearing a yellow shirt.

Her mother learned of the incident via social media. She confirmed her daughter’s identity at the hospital.

According to information, the victim is a single mother to a months-old infant.

She used to stay in Manila before settling in Pavia.

She frequently had fights with her live-in partner and threatened suicide while holding a knife.

Banquillo confirmed that her mother appeared at the police station Wednesday morning.

She intimated that they are convinced that there was no foul play on the girl’s death.

Relatedly, a report of a 15-year old who allegedly tried to jump off a building at Delgado Street, City Proper district also circulated on the social media.

The boy allegedly went to the 5-storey building and apparently threatened to leap.

However, his mother allegedly hugged him from behind and brought him to safety.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Pablito, Iloilo City Police Station 1 commander, said they received the report of the alleged attempted suicide.

But when police responded to the area, the boy’s family claimed that it was just a threat following a fight with his girlfriend.
