Teen involved in road mishap nabbed for carrying gun, ‘shabu’

BACOLOD City – A male teenager who was allegedly involved in a road accident was arrested in a police station in Pontevedra, Negros Occidental last Monday after a sachet of suspected shabu reportedly fell from his bag when police asked for his identification card.

Carl Angelo Santiso, 18, of Barangay Miranda, Hinigaran town, was charged yesterday for possession of dangerous drugs and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition in relation to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban.

Police Captain Hancel Lumandaz, town police chief, said Santiso tried to escape when police noticed the contraband on the ground but he was cornered.

“Nag duda na kami. Kay gin pangayuan siya ID pero may nadagdag na sachet,” Lumandaz said.

Upon searching his belt bag, three more sachets of suspected shabu, a .38 caliber pen gun, and two cartridges of the said firearm were also confiscated.  The seized illegal drugs is worth P33,800.

Lumandaz said that Santiso just passed by the town when he figured in a road accident.

He came from La Carlota City and was on his way home when it happened, the police chief added.
