BACOLOD City – Ten persons were rescued after a privately owned motorized banca capsized near the coast of Zone 1, Barangay 6, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental yesterday.

This was based on a report from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).

No casualties were reported as all 10 passengers were safe, according to the local rescue. However, no additional details were provided yet.

With the incident, the CDRRMO issued an advisory prohibiting all passenger motor banca or pump boats to traverse across the Refugio (Sipaway) Island while the sea is rough triggered by localized thunderstorms.

However, the advisory was lifted late Sunday afternoon, upon the recommendation of the Hazard Monitoring Team and affirmed by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-San Carlos City Substation and Task Force Bantay Dagat.

The local rescue advised all operators of small passenger sea vessels to take proper precaution for any sudden change of weather condition.
