Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) director general, Secretary Isidro S. Lapeña personally turned over the Certificate of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Program Registration for Organic Agriculture Production National Certificate (NC) II to the local government unit of Tubungan, Iloilo.

Mayor Roquito Tacsagon received the certificate in a simple ceremony held at the Tubungan Skills Training Center on Feb 11, 2022.

The newly accredited Tubungan Skills Training Center, an LGU run training center located in the village of Bacan, is one of the 10-point priority thrusts of the present administration.

Its establishment helped intensify livelihood and employment programs, organic agriculture and Coconut Industry Development programs and the creation of full-fledged skilled workers in the municipality.

In his message during the turn-over, Lapeña committed to fully support the training center by granting scholarship programs.

The project is a collaborative endeavor of the local government unit with the initiative of its Public Employment Service Office through its Labor and Employment Officer Emelyn Tano, and office of the Municipal Agriculture with assistance from national agencies, particularly the TESDA, municipal officials and other local stakeholders.

While in the town, Lapeña also visited the Organic Farm of Project TAMPAD of the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) of the Regional Task Force-End Local Communist Armed Conflict in Sitio Baldan, Igtuble.

Igtuble is one of the cleared villages listed in the Retooled Community Support Program in 2019 and already in a sustaining stage.

He inspected the Organic Garden of the TESDA scholars and took the chance to join in the ceremonial harvesting.

Aside from Iloilo, Lapeña also visited the other provinces of Western Visayas where he met with local officials, inspected other TVET’s programs and led the inauguration of the TESDA Provincial building in Capiz province.

He was joined by TESDA 6 Regional Director Jerry G. Tizon in those events. (PIA)
