BACOLOD City – The first three employees of the Negros Occidental provincial government who were infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 have recovered.
The three were released from quarantine facilities last week after they tested negative in their second swab test.
Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz confirmed that the staff from the Public Information Office, the first capitol employee to be infected, was considered “cured.”
Atty. Maki Ascalon, secretary of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental, confirmed Sunday that a technical assistant (TA) at the SP has also recovered.
The TA is the third capitol employee to be infected and was released from the quarantine facility together with the second patient, a staff from the Provincial Veterinarian Office whose second swab test result was also negative.
Earlier Negros Occidental Provincial Health Officer Ernell Tumimbang recommended the lockdown of the provincial capitol, which was approved by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.
The lockdown took effect Aug 12 to 16 to disinfect capitol offices.
Provincial capitol offices are expected to resume operation today, Aug 17.
So far, 15 Capitol employees tested positive for COVID-19, including the three survivors.
