Three killed in shooting incidents

BACOLOD City – Three persons were shot dead in separate shooting incidents in Negros Occidental on Friday and Saturday.

In Binalbagan town, Allen Rivera, 20, of Barangay Lopez, Silay City, was gunned down by unidentified men at Barangay San Pedro last Saturday.

Based on a police report, Rivera, along with his sibling and mother, were walking when two unidentified men who were wearing bonnets alighted from a vehicle and tailed them.

One of the assailants then shot the victim from behind, while his two companions escaped.

Rivera was rushed to Binalbagan Infirmary Clinic but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police recovered from the scene five ammunition casings, and an ammunition slug.

Rivera and his sibling were recently released from jail through plea bargaining for their drug offense, according to the police.

In Escalante City, Honesto Escobar, 55, of Barangay Old Poblacion, was found dead at the said village last Friday with a gunshot wound in his left cheek, police records showed.

Escobar was a caretaker of a piece of land in the village.

Prior to the discovery of his body, his colleague heard two gunshots on Thursday night but ignored it until he found the victim lying on the ground the following day.

Police recovered from the scene a bolo owned by Escobar.

In Cadiz City, Gerallie Porre, 57, of Barangay Caduhaan, was gunned down by four unidentified armed men at the said barangay.

Investigation showed that while Porre went outside his residence, he was waylaid by the perpetrators who were armed with unknown caliber of firearms.

The perpetrators shot the victim several times, hitting his head and different parts of his body which resulted in his immediate death.

Police recovered from the scene two ammunition shells and a slug.
