Travelers asked to be courteous at checkpoints

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – “Let us be courteous and respectful when passing through checkpoints.”

This was the appeal of Capiz Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Judy Grace Pelaez to drivers and commuters.

Pelaez made the appeal after a Ceres bus allegedly ignored the checkpoint at the boundary of Passi City in Iloilo province and Dumarao, Capiz recently.

It was also triggered by another incident where a person was prevented from entering the province being a non-essential traveler or non-Authorized Person Outside Residence (APOR).

Pelaez said the frontliners in the borders are already tired, thus it is not right to shout or harass them for doing their job amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are in the Inter-Zonal Travel because Capiz is in the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) while the provinces of Iloilo and Aklan are in the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine”, he added.

She explained that even returning residents could not be allowed to enter the province until August 31.

“We should be always prepared because the province of Capiz is the only province in Region 6 that is left under Alert Level III because of COVID-19,” Pelaez stressed adding that transport companies have been informed of the rules.
