BACOLOD City – A tricycle driver was gunned down by two unidentified men at Barangay Cabatangan, Talisay City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday.

Slain was Leonardo Bego, 56, of the said village.

Police Lieutenant Ray Cordero, deputy chief of Talisay City Police Station, said the victim was found dead in his tricycle.

Cordero said that two persons were seen standing in front of a sari-sari store and when Bego passed by, they flagged him down and rode his tricycle.

When they reached a secluded area, five gunshots were heard, Cordero said. The two passengers fled.

Bego suffered two gunshot wounds in the head and chest. He died on the spot.

Police recovered two empty shells of .45-caliber ammunition.

Cordero said they have yet to determine the motive, since the victim’s family claimed that he had no enemies.

“He’s also not into illegal activities,” the deputy chief added, based on the statement of the victim’s family.

Cordero said they also ruled out robbery since the victim’s valuables were intact.
