BACOLOD City – Two motorcycle riders died in separate road accidents here last Wednesday.

In Barangay Mansilingan, Era Alintano, 26, of Proper Barangay Abo, Murcia, Negros Occidental died after she was sideswiped by an alleged speeding truck driven by Joven Buenavides, 53, of Barangay Mailum, Bago City.

Police Captain Elmer Bonilla, head of Police Station 7, said the victim was on her way home when the accident happened.

Bonilla said Alintano was dragged a few meters away, damaging her helmet that caused her head injuries.

Alintano was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

In a media interview, Buenavides said he was surprised when someone shouted that he reportedly hit someone even if he slowed down.

He said he was not drunk, and he did not see Alintano on the road.

Charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to properties were filed against Buenavides yesterday, according to Bonilla.

Meanwhile, in Barangay Villamonte, Oscar Ma Belarte Jr., 33, of Manapla town died after he lost control over his driven motorcycle and hit a pavement.

His companion Lemuel De Dios, 36, of Cadiz City was wounded.

Police Major Ritchie Gohee, head of Police Station 4, said the motorcycle even hit the passing mobile patrol car of Police Station 7 when the riders were thrown off the ground.

Gohee said the patrol car was on its way to a hospital to bring a patient when the accident happened.

No injuries were reported on the passengers of the said patrol vehicle.
