BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here has initially identified two election hotspots in the province.

Police Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, public information officer of Nocppo, said one city and one municipality are under monitoring for now.

But Donasco refused to reveal the two areas since it is not yet final and can still be changed anytime.

Donasco said the two areas were not part of the election hotspots identified in the 2019 polls.

Donasco said that existence of private armed groups is one of the criteria in declaring a local government unit as an election hotspot.

She said that monitoring continues until they can finalize the list.

Meanwhile, Donasco said that some police escorts of local politicians were recalled in accordance with the mandate of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

But Donasco has yet to give the exact figure on the number of recalled personnel.
