Two persons were killed in what appeared to be a case of vendetta stabbing in Jaro, Iloilo City on July 6, 2019.

Police identified the fatalities as Arnold Hortillo, 40, and Emmanuel Andrade, 58, of Barangay M. H. del Pilar, Jaro.

Footage from a closed circuit television (CCTV) showed that Hortillo, a pedicab driver, was sitting on the roadside with two other men when Andrade approached him.

There was not much ruckus before Andrade struck the victim with a soft drink bottle and later stabbed his abdomen.

Andrade immediately fled but Hortillo’s three brothers ran after him.

Police Captain Eduardo Siacon, Jaro police chief, said the brothers took turns in mauling Andrade.

One of them, a certain Christy, stabbed Andrade.

Both injured men were rushed to the hospital but they did not survive.

Siacon said Andrade’s three brothers fled but one of them, a certain Rodrigo, was subsequently arrested.

Investigation indicated that Andrade was incarcerated before for a previous incident. He allegedly swore to get back at the family who stabbed dead his nephew.

Siacon said a member of the Hortillo family killed Andrade’s nephew.

With Andrade’s death, Siacon said they would pursue a murder charge against the three Hortillo brothers.
