BACOLOD City – The remains of an unidentified man who was found in a swamp at Purok Milagrosa, Barangay Lag-asan, Bago City, Negros Occidental last Saturday tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Police Lieutenant Joseph Jaro, deputy police chief of Bago City Police Station, said the elderly man aged 70 was swabbed on Sunday and results indicated that he was infected with SARS-CoV-2.

With the said results, Jaro said the victim was immediately buried in a cemetery. He remains to be Mr. X.

Jaro said there was no foul play behind his death, as there were no signs of struggle.

Jaro said they suspect that the victim probably felt ill and drowned in a swamp.
