BACOLOD City – The body of man believed to be a victim of summary execution was found at Canetown Subdivision, Barangay 19-A, Victorias City, Negros Occidental yesterday.

Lieutenant Colonel Eduardo Corpuz, city police chief, said the victim’s face was covered with plastic bag and packing tape, while his legs were tied with a nylon rope.

A village watchman found the body around 5:40 a.m. Sunday.

Corpuz said the victim initially suffered a gunshot wound in the body and was probably killed somewhere else since there has been no indication that the crime was committed in the area where he was found.

Police also said that the perpetrators reportedly cut the victim’s ears, but Corpuz said they are still determining his other injuries.

“Brutal ang pagkakapatay sa kanya,” he added.

Corpuz said a placard stating “I love drugs” was left in the area.

He also said that the perpetrators left a note threatening a woman that she is their next target.

Although the victim was being linked to illegal drugs, Corpuz said they cannot yet tell if the incident can be considered as drug-related.

Corpuz said they need to establish the motive first, although they somehow have a lead after the woman who was threatened surfaced at the police station.

Corpuz said they initially found out from the woman that the victim was not involved in illegal drugs, but he said that all angles will be investigated.

As of 3 p.m. the victim remains unidentified.

Corpuz said it’s possible that the victim was not from Victorias City, since there has been no missing individual reported in the past few days.
