UPV Com Sci students dominate startup pitching tilt

A team of 4th year BS Computer Science students in UP Visayas emerged victorious in the recently concluded Philippines Startup Challenge (PSC) 2021 Regional Pitching Competition-Students Category in Region 6 held on Feb 22, 2022.

This competition was conducted by the Department of Information and Communications Technology Region 6.

Teamprano, which is composed of Patricia Marie Garcia, Renzel Buatag, Ronn Ian Visto and their Project Mentor Prof. Almie Carajay, secured the top spot with their App called Travellert.

Travellert is a location-based alarm system application that aims to assist commuters when traveling by sending a notification whenever they are approaching their destination. They also won the Best in Video Pitch.

Another team of 4th Year BS Computer Science students, JACK.co, copped the Best Pitch Presentation award with their app called Tinda On The Go (TOTGO).

TOTGO is an online web application where you can buy, sell, or deliver products. Unlike other food delivery services, it caters to perishable goods and the local market to boost the local economy.

JACK.co is composed of Candyl John Faeldonea, Kristen Ann Joy Luciano, Jayvee Castañeda, and their Project Mentor, Prof. Almie Carajay.

Teamprano and JACK.co serve as an inspiration for aspiring young entrepreneurs with creative ideas that can potentially solve social problems. (Division of Physical Sciences and Mathematics, College of Arts and Sciences)
