Visayas soldiers boost photography skills

IN ORDER to hone and develop army’s photography skills, designated photo journalists of the Army’s 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division attended a Photo Journalism Training at Camp Martin, Delgado on Sept 6, 2019.

The Division Public Affairs Office (DPAO) under Capt. Cenon Pancito III spearheaded the photo journalism training.

The participants are from 3ID’s line units that include 301st Infantry Brigade, 61st Infantry Battalion, 12th (Cadre) Batallion and DPAO personnel all in Panay Island; 303rd Infantry brigade, 79th, 62nd and 15th Infantry Battalions in Negros Occidental, and 302nd Infantry Brigade, 94th, and 11th Infantry Battalions in Negros Oriental.

The subject matter expert was Leo Solinap, GMA Online News Senior Photo Journalist.

Solinap discussed basic photography and qualities of a good photographer.

Solinap told the participants to select the best photo and shoot it without using photoshop software and don’t go more than a hundred shot.

“A good photographer should have passion, lots of patience and turns ordinary to extra ordinary,” Solinap said.

Meanwhile, Capt. Pancito said the purpose of the training is to improve the skills of the participants on how to rightfully capture various activities of the Philippine Army. “By capturing rightful and quality photos we can share and show to the public what their Army has been doing,” Pancito stressed.
