W. Visayas lists 95 new COVID-19 cases

Region 6 is inching closer to the 27,000-mark of confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases as the Department of Health-Western Visayas Center for Health Development listed 95 new cases on Thursday, March 25, 2021.

The total confirmed COVID-19 cases in the region are at 26,900 (1,615 active cases, 24,503 recoveries, and 776 deaths, excluding six cases who died of non-COVID-related causes).

The new COVID-19 cases are composed of 72 local cases, 16 locally stranded individuals (LSI), 5 authorized persons outside of their residence (APOR), and 2 returning overseas Filipinos (ROF).

Iloilo province had the greatest number of new COVID-19 cases with 25 (18 local cases and 7 LSIs), followed by Negros Occidental with 21 (11 local cases, 9 LSIs, and 1 ROF), Bacolod City with 19 (17 local cases and 2 APORs), Antique with 12 local cases, Iloilo City with 11 (8 local cases and 3 APORs), Aklan with 4 local cases, Capiz with 2 local cases, and Guimaras with 1 ROF case.

Based on the presence of symptoms, 73.19 percent of active cases are asymptomatic, 22.66 percent are mild, and 4.15 percent are severe.

 

COVID-19 VACCINATIONS IN ILOILO

The Iloilo Provincial health Office also released its latest COVID-19 vaccination report, indicating that as of 9 a.m. of March 25, a total of 2,751 people who have been vaccinated with 1,499 receiving CoronaVac, and 1,252 vaccinated with AZD1222.

CoronaVac was made by Chinese biotechnology company Sinovac, and AZD1222 was made by British-Swedish pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca.

The 1,499 CoronaVac vaccinees include 591 from provincial government hospitals, 85 from Rural Health Units (RHUs), 234 from other Bakuna Centers, and 589 from DOH-retained hospitals.

The 1,252 vaccinated with AZD1222 include 637 from provincial government hospitals, 341 from RHUs, 184 from other Bakuna Centers, and 90 from DOH-retained hospitals.

The provincial government hospitals which administered the vaccines are Aleosan District Hospital (Alimodian), Dr. Ricardo S. Provido Sr. Memorial District Hospital (Calinog), Dr. Ricardo Y. Ladrido Memorial Hospital (Lambunao), Iloilo Provincial Hospital (Pototan), Jesus M. Colmenares District Hospital (Batad), Ramon D. Duremdes District Hospital (Dumangas), Rep. Pedro G. Trono Memorial District Hospital (Guimbal), and San Joaquin Iloilo Hospital New Site.

The RHUs conducting vaccination include the Calinog RHU, Pototan RHU and Birthing Clinic, Guimbal RHU Main, and Sara RHU.

The DOH-retained hospitals in Iloilo province doing vaccination are the Western Visayas Sanitarium in Sta. Barbara, and the Don Jose S. Monfort Medical Center Extension Hospital in Barotac Nuevo.

Other Bakuna Centers in the province include the Alimodian Municipal Health Office, Badiangan Bakuna Center, Barotac Viejo Municipal Gym, Cabatuan Convention Center, and the Concepcion COVID-19 Bakuna Center.
