Following the recent relief of the police directors of Antique and Negros Occidental provinces, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 has not yet implemented any further revamps in personnel, at least for now.
Brigadier General Jack Wanky, the Western Visayas police chief, said he has yet to assess the performance of field commanders and key officers in the region.
“Effective officers will be retained,” he stated.
However, there are circumstances where commanders may be relieved even if their performance is commendable.
Wanky noted that he would have no choice but to let go of “overstaying commanders”—those who have been in their post for more than two years.
For example, he cited Colonel Leo Pamittan, who was relieved after serving for more than two years as the director of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO).
“We will take their morale and welfare into account and may relieve them to offer opportunities for further schooling or training. Para umakyat din sa at ‘yung nasa baba ay mabigyan din ng chance na umakyat,” Wanky said.
The region’s top cop stated that he would consider all relevant factors in making decisions under his leadership.
“They will either be relieved for cause or for their own personal or career advancement,” Wanky explained.
