Wanted man ‘resists’ arrest, killed in ‘shootout’ with cops

A MURDER suspect was gunned down after he allegedly put up a fight with police officers who attempted to arrest him morning of June 21, 2019.

The incident happened 6 a.m. Friday at Sitio Igang, Barangay Iglinab, Valderama, Antique.

The accused, Jeremy Mosqueda, was hunted by police for a charge of murder with the use of unlicensed firearm in Criminal Case No. 2016-7899.

Judge Rogelio Amador of the Regional Trial Court Branch 66 in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo issued the arrest warrant against Mosqueda on Jan 10, 2017.

As the arresting team neared his house, Mosqueda allegedly shot at them, which led to a firefight.

Initial information indicated that Mosqueda killed a former Armed Forces soldier from Carles, Iloilo.

Recovered from the scene were three shotguns, two hand grenades, and a caliber .30 US carbine.

Considered as armed and dangerous, several police units carried out the operation against Mosqueda.

The team included the Regional Intelligence Division (RID)-6, the Valderama Police Station, the Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU)-6, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Antique, and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 (RFMB-6).

Also part of the operation were the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB)-Antique, Antique Mobile Force Company, PIB-IPPO, and Balasan Police Station.
