BACOLOD City – A wanted man, who allegedly sexually abused a 13-year-old girl was arrested in Talisay City, Negros Occidental Tuesday night, a week after the incident happened in Cadiz City.
Police Major Robert Mansueto, chief of Cadiz City Police Station, identified the suspect as Marlon Beboso Jr., 23, of Cadiz City.
Joint operatives of Talisay City Police Station and Cadiz City Police Station arrested Beboso at Catabla Baybay, Barangay Zone 3, Talisay City, around 9 p.m., by virtue of an arrest warrant for rape by sexual assault issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 66 Judge Rogelio Amador in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo province in May 26, 2017. The court has set a bail of P120,000 for his provisional liberty.
Mansueto said they received information that Beboso was sighted in the area which prompted them to launch the operation for his arrest.
Mansueto said that Beboso hid at his relative’s house after he was tagged in another rape incident in Cadiz City last week. He was identified as the alleged suspect who injured and sexually molested the daughter of his cousin last November 11.
Beboso, in a media interview, denied the allegations against him, claiming he did not rape his cousin’s daughter, contrary to the statement of the victim, who positively identified him as the one who allegedly molested her.
He said that he was drunk when he offered to send the minor to school but he did not commit an offense. He also said that the child’s injuries were caused by an accident when they fell from the motorcycle.
He claimed that he abandoned the child beside the sugarcane field because he was afraid that people may misinterpret his actions.
When asked about his arrest warrant, Beboso admitted that he was using marijuana during the said incident in Iloilo province allegedly involving two other persons, but he already quit engaging in illegal drugs.
Mansueto said that Beboso will be turned over to the authorities in Barotac Viejo for custody. Another rape charge will be filed against him in relation to the Cadiz incident.
Also, Mansueto said that a cash reward of P200,000 will also be given by the city government to the person who provided information to the police leading to the arrest of Beboso.
