The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), in collaboration with the Regional Medical and Dental Unit 6 and the Western Visayas Medical Center Blood Bank (WVMCBB), successfully conducted a blood donation drive on August 27, 2024, at the PRO-6 Multi-purpose Hall, Camp Gen Martin Teofilo B. Delgado, Iloilo City.
The PRO-6 activity aimed to enhance the blood supply for patients in need across Western Visayas.
The event was attended by Dr. Mark Anthony B. Planto III, Medical Officer of the WVMCBB, and Police Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky, Director of PRO-6.
In his remarks, Dr. Planto expressed deep gratitude towards the personnel of PRO-6 for their participation and support under the leadership of Brig. Gen. Wanky.
He highlighted the importance of such collaborations in maintaining a steady blood supply for those in urgent need.
Wanky also emphasized the critical role of blood donation, stating, “As blood donors, your act does not only strengthen our sense of community and mutual support, but also expresses selflessness and compassion.”
He noted that even a simple gesture like donating blood can have a profound impact by saving lives.
A total of 85 blood donors participated in the event, contributing a collective 40,590cc of blood. The blood collected will significantly aid the Western Visayas Medical Center Blood Bank in meeting the demand for blood transfusions in the region.
The successful blood donation drive reflects the commitment of PRO-6 to community service and its ongoing efforts to support public health initiatives.
