Will Western Visayas snatch the elusive PNP’s best police regional office title?

For several years, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has landed in the finalist roll but failed to earn the best PRO award.

But this year might be PRO-6’s time to capture the “best of the best” title.

It might not be farfetched since no less than Police Major General Daniel Macatlang, Jr. said that PRO-6 stands a chance of getting the award.

Macatlang, director of the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations (DIPO) for Western Mindanao, is the leader of the Field Evaluation and Validation Team.

“I’m amazed by the welcome briefing. They got a high score,” he said referring to the initial evaluation done.

Other contenders for the best PRO award are Region 12, Region 4-A, Region 8, and the National Capital Region.

Before Western Visayas, the team already inspected Region 12 and will have Region 8 after PRO-6.

Macatlang said the winner will be known a week before August 18, when the PNP will celebrate the Police Service Anniversary.

The other unit awards are best City Police Office (CPO)/ Police Provincial Office (PPO) and Municipal Police Stations (MPS), among others.

The criteria could include description of the unit nominee, administrative, human and logistical resources report, the quad (quad refer to Intelligence, Operation, Investigation and Police Community Relation) operation performance report, Awards and recognitions received, human rights and women children protection report and other notable accomplishment by the unit.

Simulation exercises were also done and will form part of the judging criteria.
