WVSU Medicine Alumni Homecoming Shines in Retro Glam

The West Visayas State University (WVSU) College of Medicine celebrated its Grand Alumni Homecoming 2024 with a dazzling Pop-Up Fellowship Night, where attendees brought their best retro glam looks to the dinner dance.

Held at the Grand Xing Imperial Hotel’s Ballroom, the event featured eight alumni batches celebrating milestone anniversaries: Batch 1979 (45th year), Batch 1984 (40th year), Batch 1989 (35th year), Batch 1994 (30th year), Batch 1999 (25th year), Batch 2004 (20th year), and Batch 2014 (10th year).

The night’s entertainment was highlighted by nostalgic performances, including Batch 1979’s rendition of ABBA’s “Dancing Queen,” Batch 1984’s homage to Barry Manilow’s “Copacabana,” and Batch 1989’s Bee Gees-inspired “Saturday Night Fever.”

Awards were given to standout participants, with Dr. Miriones Andrada and Dr. Rollin Tabuena of Batch 1994 winning Female Star and Male Star of the Night, respectively. Batch 1994 also wowed the crowd with their N’Sync performance, earning them awards for Best Performance, Best Choreography, and Most Awesome Performance. Other notable awards included Most Diversified (Batch 1989 with Bee Gees), Closest Iconic Costume (Batch 2004 with Rihanna), and Most Well-Participated Group (Batch 1984 with Copacabana).

The event was hosted by Dr. Tina Marie Ticao and Christian Stephen Legayada. Distinguished guests included WVSU College of Medicine Alumni Association President Dr. Alda Tulio and Vice President Dr. Jofel Isidro.

Reflecting on the night, Dr. Rollin Tabuena shared, “The memories we created together will definitely last a lifetime. Thank you, batchmates, for your unwavering friendship, camaraderie, sportsmanship, cooperation, and, most importantly, love throughout these almost thirty years. We’ve grown, we’ve learned to prioritize, and most especially, we’ve gathered today.”

Congratulations to all the “Taga West” alumni for an unforgettable evening!
