Filipina-Japanese prized golfer Yuka Saso added another achievement in her storied career after rising to world no. 8 in the world women’s overall top 10 rankings.

This came after her decent campaign during the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics where she finished ninth place overall.

After 34 golf tournaments she joined this year so far, Saso was able to register 200.39 points and still has the chance to crack into the world’s top five rankings by the end of 2021.

The Olympian came in the prestigious sports event as the no. 10 seed who had a huge bounce back after starting the first round at 47th place.

Saso rallied from behind to score a 10-under par 274 in the final round after hitting a 65. From 47th place, Saso then turned things around and landed 38 places better than her previous rounds.

The 20-year-old golfer previously made history as the first Filipina to win the 2021 US Women’s Open that helped her qualification in the world’s women’s top 10.

Meanwhile, co-golfer and PH representative Bianca Pagdanganan finished 43rd overall and was one of those who performed well in the first two rounds.
