BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here recognized the efforts of 10 police stations in the province in their campaign against illegal drugs, wanted persons, illegal gambling, and loose firearms.

The awarding rites led by Police Colonel Romy Palgue, Nocppo director, and Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson was held at the provincial police headquarters here yesterday, in celebration of the 119th Police Service Anniversary themed “Towards a Pandemic-Resilient Philippine National Police (PNP): Adopting Protective Protocols in the New Normal.

Silay City Police Station and Hinoba-an Municipal Police Station topped the list for the accomplishment on the anti-drug war, while police stations in Victorias City and Manapla town bested the other police stations in the anti-illegal gambling operations.

For the campaign against wanted persons, personnel of police stations in Bago City and La Castellana town were also commended.

For the campaign against loose firearms, Nocppo awarded the police stations in Kabankalan City and Isabela town.

La Carlota City Police Station and Hinigaran Municipal Police Station were also recognized for their unit performance evaluation ratings.

Palgue lauded the Nocppo personnel for a job well done.

“You deserve the commendation and recognition,” he said.

Palgue also extended his heartfelt gratitude to the stakeholders for their continued support to the police force.

“We cannot do this alone, the police is the community, and the community is the police. Lahat tayo may katungkulan para sa kapayapaan ng bayan,” he said.

Meanwhile, Lacson, who was the guest of honor in the event, also acknowledged the sacrifices of the police, whom he claimed had also put their lives at risk as part of the frontliners in the fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

“I am grateful and I salute your bravery of service to the people of Negros,” the governor said, as he stressed that police work needs a great balancing act.
